In addition to writing, Katherine has worked to create better food choices at institutions, large corporations, and food banks. She made her picture book debut with Sylvia’s Spinach, illustrated by Anna Raff, which is now widely used to support nutrition education and school garden curriculum. She grew up digging in the soils of California and Arizona, and was inspired to write Zora’s Zucchini by a particularly prolific August in her Seattle garden.
Sylvia's Spinach reminded me that there's a special, secret ingredient in healthy eating - having fun!
